The photograph is my "lone tree" on the prairie shot that you often see local photographers producing. Only my "tree" isn't alone. Its more of a sentinel, standing guard over the graves at North Dakota's Veterans' Cemetery.

The week before Thanksgiving was spent road tripping back and forth across the state shooting for Successful Farming magazine. I forded a river, drank snickerdoodle coffee, and laid down in a few snow banks to get the shots I wanted. All in all, it was a darn good week and I'm ready to go again. The image above is from the first story, an article on the use of GPS tracking devices in cattle ear tags.

Shiloh's Newest Board Member

A headshot was needed ASAP of Shiloh's newest board member, so Mike and I made plans for me to come over and shoot a couple quick images during his work day. And Camey, Mike's wife, ensured he looked sharp by making a visit to Randy at Hellman Brothers. Between Camey, Randy and I, Mike's looking pretty darn good!

A couple weeks ago, I did some headshots for a business associate and ran into this hard working pooch as I was leaving. He comes to work each day with his owner, alerting him with a single "woof" when anyone enters the business's side door.

There is a HUGE replica Dutch village complete with toy trains in Pella, IA. The tour guide said that locals have been working on it for more than forty years. My wife said, that their wives are probably reallllly happy it isn't in their basements.

I stopped down at the Sunday morning car show to grab a couple shots. Mandan's annual Buggies and Blues event is usually in June, but it got pushed back to the end of July this year due to the flooding along the Missouri River.

The 2nd night of the Governor's Classic, racing fans were in for a treat... sprint cars. They were clocked at speeds up to 90 mph on Dacotah Speedway's 3/8 mile track.

This last image of the Oak Ridge Boys was taken from the stage. My wife dressed me in black from head to toe that night so I'd blend in. The audience was there to see the band, not me right. Sounds like she did a good job picking out my clothes too, as friends I spoke to after the concert said they never saw me up with the band. Guess my 15 minutes of fame will have to wait for another day.

I truly enjoyed photographing the Oak Ridge Boys, and was impressed to learn that they are like one big family. The newest member of the crew has been with them for 17 years, some of the longer time staff for more than 40 years. And, there is a real life family relationship in the group too, William Lee Golden's son, Chris, is the band's drummer. Above is a picture of the two of them on stage.

Last Saturday night, I had the honor of photographing the Oak Ridge Boys during their concert at Prairie Knights. I grew up listening to their music, so it meant a lot to me to be able to photograph them.

I captured this image of the baptismal fount and altar before the Christmas in July Service at St. Andrews, north of Zeeland, ND. The church is more than 100 years old. When I asked the parishioners what their favorite part was, they all mentioned these two pieces.
